Job Description
NW Recruiters is seeking a Vice President of Business Development. This role will be responsible for providing expert level leadership, business unit development, growth, and management in the Federal sector to enable our client to grow capacity and provide services to our clients that achieve meaningful and measurable results. Provide thought leadership, market direction, business development, staff management and direction, and oversee client relationships. Incumbent has 15+ years’ experience in organizational effectiveness or related, business unit leadership and development, P&L responsibility, client relationship development and maintenance, and experience as a member of a corporate leadership team.​
Responsibilities
· Serve as a thought leader both internally and externally designed to build the capacity of the company and ensure a positive reputation in the marketplace.​
· Lead and grow the business unit consistent with the company’s vision, values, strategic direction, and critical measures. Implement existing service areas, enhance services areas, and develop and add new services as appropriate.​
· Guide staff work, growth, and change. Communicate vision and translate into action, as well as roles and accountabilities, so they are understood and actionable by all.​
· Help client organizations achieve results and measurably improve their organizational performance. Guide staff and clients in managing expectations to achieve meaningful results for all parties and produce high quality outcomes and deliverables.​
· Develop, present, obtain final approval, and effectively manage group strategies and budgets.​ Provide the necessary oversight to ensure the company is achieving financial results to include revenue, gross profit, net profit, and proper cash flow. Implement budget while ensuring high quality, valid, and ethical results of consequence for our clients.​
· Working with the company’s VP of National Security Solutions, develop, and execute effective business development plans. Lead or support business discovery and development activity, proposal efforts, and make bid/no-bid decisions. Assist in maintaining positive “brand presence”.​
· Develop, document, and protect company’s intellectual property, models, methodologies, and sensitive business information.​
· Ensure company policies and procedures exist where appropriate and are implemented as required to ensure the conduct of effective projects and business practices. Keep staff informed.​
· Participate as a member of the company’s leadership team. Participate in developing budgets, plans, corporate policy, and activities. Collaborate with other business units as appropriate.​ Contribute to decision making and problem solving. Communicate and implement leadership decisions.​
· Serve as the custodian of effective communications for your business unit and corporate requirements as required, serving as an appropriate role model for staff. Develop and maintain strong relationships with staff, clients, partners, and other stakeholders. Serve as the “chief exemplar” of performance, quality, and behavior.​
· Direct, guide others, and implement the implementation of company’s values, policies, and processes that ensure efficiency, quality (4 quadrants), and effective relationships internally and externally.​
· Develop partnerships with other companies that are effective in helping the company reach market segments and better service clients. These partnerships shall be consistent with the company’s business intent, ethics, and requirements for protecting company’s business interests.​
· Serves the approval authority for all staff hires, development, and employment actions within your business group.​
· As required, serve as Point of Contact (POC) on various company contractual vehicles as appropriate.​
· Develop and lead effective partnerships with other firms that result in quality implementations for our clients and function consistent with our values and policies.​
· Supervise and develop employees consistent with the requirements of the company and the needs of the business unit. Implement company’s performance management system.​
· As appropriate, lead client engagements or interact with clients and engagement teams to ensure success. Develop and approve effective and valid models designed to improve client organizational performance. Model exemplar consulting skills. Take or direct corrective action when necessary to ensure client and company needs are met.​
· Perform and act at all times consistent with the company’s mission, values, ethics, and strategies.​
· Function as a profession representative of our client at all times.​
· Make effective internal and external presentations of various types designed to persuade, obtain business, support clients, present position, etc.​
· Lead, write, and develop proposals.​
Required Experience
· Fifteen plus years of experience in a consulting environment in organizational improvement, human capital, and enterprise systems implementation. Includes at least 4-5 years managing projects.​
· Exemplifies a professional appearance and behavior that ensures confidence in the company’s ability to succeed.​
· Advanced degree in the above disciplines or related area.​
· Proven leadership abilities in a consulting environment.​
· Strong financial management, business development, management/supervision experience in a consulting environment.​
· Significant knowledge of the Federal government and other market segments, including nature of the market, competitive landscape, and contracts and acquisitions.​
· Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, collaboration and conflict resolution skills.​
· Proven ability to develop staff to grow capacity for the company and the clients benefit.​ Ensures support is appropriately provided. Is dependable and trustworthy and can develop the necessary enthusiasm and acumen to achieve as a group. Can support individual differences while ensuring company principles are followed.​
· Experience in implementing an effective business development process including market reach and strategy, opportunity qualification, proposal development, negotiations, capture and award, and project planning.​
· Full understanding of company’s operating and administrative rules, mission and values, and procedures.​
· Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high quality environment.​
· Superior judgment skills, and strong problem solving capabilities and the ability to visualize and communicate solutions.​
· Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

· Strong consulting skills consistent with company’s exemplar model.​
